Just as we need respite from life’s demands and the bustle of the holiday season, our grapevines also need time to rest and regenerate during winter months. They enter dormancy, slow down their metabolism drastically, and pull their energy (sap) down to their roots for protection from the cold.

Throughout the year, we prune our grapevines at regular intervals, and every winter, once the vines become dormant, we prune them back even further so that they’ll be ready to bounce back with vigorous growth and fruit production in the spring. Follow along to watch their progression this growing season—our vineyard looks considerably different every month.
