Special Reserve Merlot

2017  BC VQA OKANAGAN VALLEY RED WINE

14.3% alc. 750ml

Merlot is a dark blue-colored wine grape variety that is used as both a blending grape and for varietal wines. Merlot is also one of the most popular red wine varietals in many markets. This flexibility has helped to make it one of the world’s most planted grape varieties. As of 2004, Merlot was estimated to be the third most grown variety

VINTAGE REPORT:

No extended freezing during the winter, but a hotter than average spring provided an earlier than usual harvest, but returned large yields of heavy red grapes.

TASTING NOTES:

Merlot is one of the favorites here at Lulu Island Winery. Hearty grapes provide dark rich flavors of plum and black currant, with hints of blackberry. Aged in French oak for 12 months, cedar and smoke compliment the finish beautifully. This is the wine to take home to pair with a nice juicy steak, roasted vegetables, turkey, or even roasted duck.
